Friday 13th curse hits the Radio City tower

Published 13th Jan 2017

The curse of Friday 13th came to life at the Radio City tower this morning and really did prove unlucky for some…..well, one man in particular!

Steve Hothersall, presenter of the Kick Off on Radio City Talk, got in the lift, his usual way up to the office, but instead of the short 36 second ride, got a surprised hour and a half elevated experience!

The wild weather had taken its toll, the wind had blown the tower so hard it stopped the lift with Steve only halfway up.

Producer Matt Jones had to step in to host Steve’s show and decided to involve his listeners by encouraging them to share their suggestions on social media for ‘lift based songs.’ Not quite the sympathy Steve was hoping for! Of course, as a dedication to Steve on his own Radio City Talk, they played Aerosmith’s ‘ Love in an elevator’!

To keep him entertained until the engineer could get to him, Leanne & Dave from the Radio City Breakfast Show also decided to call him and check on how he was doing.

Seems everyone apart from Steve was entertained by the freaky Friday experience…
