Liverpool City Council has released statement this morning, saying the family of 12-year-old Ava White, who was murdered in the city centre last month, have asked them to remove the floral tributes to her.

On the 25th November Ava had been in town with friends when she was stabbed on Church Alley.

She was taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital where she sadly died a short time later.

On Saturday, 5 December, crowds gathered at a vigil outside Primark on Church Street to pay tribute to Ava.

Today, Liverpool City Council have said that at her family's request, they will remove the remaining floral tributes there.

A 14-year-old boy, who can't be named for legal reasons has been charged with Ava's murder and possession of a bladed article, and has been remanded in custody.

He is due for a plea hearing in February, with a trial date being scheduled for the 16th May.
