Liverpool supporters say the club isn't being fair to its fans - after seats from the old Main Stand at Anfield were put on sale for £200 each.

As well as being criticised over the price of the wooden seats - supporters are also angry that fans aren't able to choose their individual seat - with many having been in families for decades.

Gareth Roberts from Liverpool fanzine The Anfield Wrap says the club has gone about things in the wrong way.

"I don't object to the fact that Liverpool are trying to sell seats to make money to keep the club running.

"But I object to the fact that they didn't think about fans who have sat there for all these years. Long term supporters could maybe get some kind of reward for their loyalty in being offered those seats - the very seat they sat in."

Ian Salmon is a season ticket holder at Anfield - he wanted to buy his seat, but isn't prepared to fork out £200 on a seat the club will choose for him.

"St Etienne. Borussia Monchengladbach. Juventus. Roma. Dortmund last season. The derbies. Every great game, we have seen from our seat. You want THAT seat. You do not want A seat.

"It's absolutely crass - pure greed on the club's part. They know they can sell them to a bloke in Florida who's never been the game - a bloke in Malaysia, Tasmania - they will buy it because it's a piece of Anfield. The people who want the seat, can not get the seat, which means something to them."

Radio City News has contacted the club for a comment in response.
