A double killer from Wigan has been released from jail - despite appeals from the family of one of his victims - for him to stay behind bars.

Darren Pilkington admitted the manslaughter of Carly Fairhurst back in 2006.

Pilkington had already served time for killing another man in a fight outside a pub when he met Carly.

Carly's parents Shelia and Trevor Fairhurst say they're devastated that he's going to be released after serving 10 and a half years behind bars.

They are convinced that he will kill again and urged the parole board not to release him.

He's now free under certain conditons and isn't allowed in some areas of Wigan.
