EXCLUSIVE : More than 8000 people in Liverpool are Overdue their second dose of the Covid vaccine
Increasing concerns as cases reach the highest they've been here since the middle of March
As coronavirus cases climb to their highest point in months, we can exclusively reveal THOUSANDS of people in Liverpool have MISSED their second dose of the vaccine.
Amid concerns over the spread of the Delta variant first discovered in India, the latest data shows more than 340 people tested positive for the virus here this week, that's up two thirds on last week.
That's lead to concerns among health bosses that people think one dose of the jab is enough to protect them.
Fiona Lemmens is the Chair of Liverpool CCG :
"Eight thousand two hundred and eighty one without a second dose so it is quite high.
"We know that the second dose really boosts your level of protection and one is not enough if you want to make sure that your family are protected and you're protected not just from being admitted to hospital but for young people ending up with Long Covid symptoms.
"If you want to get back to normal and you want to be goin gon holiday or clubbing then I think increasingly people are going to be asking for proof that you've had your two vaccines.
"If it's been more than eight weeks since your first dose then please come and get your second".
