Last updated 26th May 2025
Hundreds of thousands of Liverpool fans are expected in the city today for their historic Premier League title parade.
Arne Slot's side lifted the trophy in front of fans at Anfield following yesterday's game against Crystal Palace.
It was the first time since 1990 the team were able to celebrate a trophy lift with fans, because of Covid restrictions in 2022.
Here's all you need to know:
When and where will the parade start?
The victory parade route will start at Allerton Maze and will travel north bound on Queens Drive towards the Fiveways roundabout and Rocket flyover.
From there it will journey along:
• Queens Drive
• Mill Bank
• West Derby Road
• Islington
• Leeds Street
• The Strand
• Route finishes at Blundell Street
It is expected the 15km-long parade will start at 2.30pm and last anywhere between 3 to 5 hours, but this is subject to change.
What road closures are in place?
The Strand will be closed northbound from the Upper Parliament Street/Great George Street junction to Leeds Street/Great Howard Street junction from 04.00 – 22.00, or until it is safe to re-open.
The southbound lane will be closed from approx. 12.00 – 20.00, again subject to crowd safety requirements.
Additionally, Leeds Street City bound will be closed from 12.00 until approx. 20.00.
People are strongly advised not drive – particularly into the city centre – and fans are asked to either walk and try and view the parade as close to home as possible.
Warning to families amid worries over children's safety
Liverpool F.C., Merseyside Police, Liverpool City Council and Alder Hey Children's hospital have issued an urgent plea for fans not to bring pyrotechnics.
5\0 people, including a three-year-old child, were treated for burns after Liverpool clinched their Premier League title with a win over Spurs earlier this month.
A statement on the council website said: "The use of flares, pyrotechnics, or anything similar is strictly prohibited.
"The use of pyrotechnics poses risk of injury to fellow fans and serious health risks."
Who will hand Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk the trophy?
Former captain Alan Hansen will hand over the trophy to current skipper Virgil van Dijk after Sunday's final match of the season against FA Cup winners Crystal Palace.
It will be 35 years and 24 days since Hansen himself lifted what was then the Division One trophy in front of a full Kop, and the first time fans will have seen it in person since then as the 2020 ceremony took place in an empty stadium because of Covid regulations.
Hansen will be accompanied by Mark and Jo McVeigh from the Owen McVeigh Foundation, which works in the community to help create memorable experiences for families with children battling cancer.
Manager Arne Slot's pleas to fans over Trent Alexander-Arnold
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has called on fans to put their grievances over Trent Alexander-Arnold's departure to one side for the Premier League champions' coronation.
he spectre of Alexander-Arnold, who appears set to join Real Madrid in the summer after deciding not to renew his contract, looms large over the occasion. On his last appearance at Anfield he was booed by fans unhappy at the way the former academy graduate had handled his departure.
Asked whether he would play the defender, who remained on the bench for Monday's defeat at Brighton as midfielder Wataru Endo came on at right-back, Slot said: "I haven't decided on that one yet but I think this should be a day that everybody is going to enjoy.
"It has been 35 years. Everyone - Liverpool fans - has been waiting for this moment and we have set the example against Tottenham (the day they clinched the title last month).
"Everyone in the stadium deserves to be there: the fans, the staff but also the players. And one of my players is Trent, so he definitely deserves to be there as well because he has been part of an incredibly successful season and incredibly successful few years at this club.
"I can only hope we do it one more time over like we did at Tottenham, and I have a lot of trust in our fans that we can do it again."
