Everton will remember Michael Jones with a period of applause ahead of kick-off in their home game against Wolves on Saturday.

Michael, 26, died on Monday 14 August following a tragic incident at the site of the club's new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

With the blessing of his family, the Club and supporters will pay their respects to Michael before Saturday's game, while supporters are also encouraged to applaud again when the match reaches the 26th minute.

Michael's family and friends have been paying tribute to him:

Michael, whose tragic passing at the age of just 26 has been felt across the Everton fan base, was popular, generous, and loved nothing more than being alongside his family and friends watching the Blues.

“Michael was the baby, a boy after three daughters," says Gemma Leary, one of Michael's sisters, speaking on behalf of her family. "He was adored by everyone, and he loved spending time with his dad watching Everton."

He was also a much-loved brother-in-law, a devoted uncle to eight nieces and nephews, and had "an amazing group of friends", many of whom shared his love of football, and Everton.

Growing up, Michael was a keen footballer himself. He represented the Fur and Feathers junior club close to his home in Kirkby, where his teammates included a future Blues midfielder in Tom Davies.

He went on to become a ventilation engineer and, naturally, was pleased and proud to be lending his talents to the development of Everton's new stadium.

However, Michael was always happiest surrounded by fellow Evertonians.

He travelled home and away watching the Blues from an early age and was raised in the belief that you follow your team through thick and thin.

He respected, too, the tales passed down from his father, Mick, and other elder matchday companions. He took the stories of his dad’s heroes and they played a part in his life. Michael's dog, who he doted on, is named Kendall.
