Proposed new Everton owners 7-7-7 Partners are a step nearer to acquiring the club after it received a letter from the Premier League in which they say they are "minded to approve" the takeover.

The group, who agreed a deal with majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri last September, now need to meet a number of conditions before full approval can be granted.

The process also has to go through an independent oversight committee.

The transaction was set to be closed in the fourth quarter of 2023, but remained subject to approval from the Premier League, FA and the Financial Conduct Authority.
