Elderly Woman Robbed At Her Home

Published 7th Sep 2015

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after an 85 year-old woman had two rings stolen in a burglary.

An unknown man entered the woman’s house, on Halsbury Road, Kensington, at around 2.45pm on Saturday.

It is believed the man engaged the woman in conversation and stroked her hand. When he left the woman realised that her engagement ring and another gold ring had been taken.

It is believed the offender left the scene on a bike in the direction of Kensington.

Crime scene investigators have attended the scene and CCTV enquiries have been undertaken.

DI Colin Rennison said: “This was a particularly callous crime involving an elderly lady in her own home.

“Thankfully the lady wasn’t injured but she was left badly shaken by her ordeal.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area of Halsbury Road on Saturday afternoon and may have seen anything, or has been offered any gold rings for sale to get in touch.”
