East Lancs Road closures after woman hit and killed by lorry

Merseyside Police can confirm that officers are currently in Rainford following reports of a fatal road traffic collision involving a female pedestrian and a heavy goods vehicle.

Officers were called to Church Road at 11.05am. The road is currently closed both ways between the B5205 Cross Pit Lane and Church Road and Southern’s Lane, close to the Eagle and Child pub.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway. As part of the investigation, the East Lancashire Road eastbound is also currently closed between Millfield Lane and Haydock Lane.
