East Lancashire Road closed as delays build in Haydock and Ashton
Traffic is busy around Newton-Le-Willows, Ashton-in-Makerfield and Haydock
The East Lancashire Road is closed this morning, causing delays and congestion.
It has been shut since the early hours due to an accident, eastbound.
Traffic data firm INRIX say: "A580 East Lancashire Road Eastbound closed, queueing traffic due to accident investigation work from A58 Liverpool Road (Pewfall Traffic Lights) to M6 J23 (Haydock)."
Online sensors show heavy traffic in Haydock, as people take detours in the morning rush. It is also busy in Ashton-in-Makerfield and Newton-Le-Willows.
