TV presenter Eamonn Holmes has apologised after comparing the attack on the Manchester United bus last night to the Hillsborough disaster.
Speaking on Sky News at 8,.36am this morning, Wednesday 11th March - while discussing the attack by West Ham fans on the players bus he said: "This is going back to the 70s and to the 80s, and everything you were seeing that was bad about Hillsborough for instance."
Two weeks ago, a inquest jury found that fan behaviour played no part in the disaster on the 15th April 1989.
Families and viewers have given their reaction on social media.
This morning the Television presenter has since apologised.
Charlotte Hennessey who lost her dad Jimmy in the disaster said:
"I watched the show and was really upset to be honest, we're only two weeks in from receiving the verdicts and to hear somebody like Eamonn Holmes, to even compare Hillsborough to violence when the truth is out there, I found it really distressing."
"We've come out the other side and I don't think he thought about what was coming out of his mouth."
"I've grown up in that lie, those opinions are all I've ever known, and what I've had to fight against. For the last two weeks, it's felt amazing knowing the truth is out there."
