Police arrest woman after reports of a car driving into grave stones in the Wirral

Merseyside Police have arrested a woman on suspicion of drink driving after reports a number of grave stones had been damaged at Landican Cemetery in the Wirral.

Officers were called at around 8.45pm to reports a white Mini Country Man had driven into several grave stones.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue were called to help the driver out the car.

A 70 year-old woman from the Wirral was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

Forensic and witness enquiries in the area are ongoing.

Wirral Council says it's in the process of contacting the families of those affected.

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to come forward.
