In July the Group heading by the golf legend was chosen as the preferred development partner The project would deliver
- 175 new jobs on site - around £120 million of new investment - a Jack Nicklaus signature golf course - a new municipal golf course - a golf links academy - a Marriott Resort Hotel and Spa - extensive opportunities for habitat creation - extra visitor spend supporting a vibrant tourism economy - a new link road to serve the Golf Resort and Hoylake - quality housing
To give local people an opportunity to see the latest proposals and how its various parts link together the Council is holding two drop-in events, which will run from 1pm - 7pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week
Council leader, Cllr Phil Davies said “We are excited about this development and how it will add to Wirral’s already strong reputation for golf and leisure activities. Hoylake still holds the record for the highest number of visitors attending The Open in England, demonstrating what an important contributor to the economy of Hoylake, West Kirby and the Wirral golf can be.
“We share the developer’s ambition for Hoylake to be the capital of England’s NW Golf Coast, attracting visitors from across the UK as well as US, Japan and Europe to master the art of links golf at a purpose-built academy and play the courses along the region’s coast.
“It is important the council and the developers keep listening to local people as these proposals move forward. The events in November are just the first stage and there will be other opportunities for people to learn more as the project develops.
“As with many schemes like this, formal consultation will come later, but this is a timely opportunity to provide an update on the progress being made.”
