A delivery driver was assaulted and robbed while parked outside Everydayz News on Old Farm Road, Kirkby, during the early hours of 23rd January.

The victim, a man in his 60s, parked his white Mercedes Sprinter van at approximately 3am when two males, who had their faces covered, approached him and demanded his van keys.

He refused and was attacked by one assailant before a second joined in, punching him multiple times in the face. The pair then used a metal bar to threaten him, demanding money.

After searching the van, the males fled on foot towards Rhosesmoor Road, stealing the driver’s hi-vis waterproof jacket, wallet containing bank cards, and driver’s licence.

The driver sustained minor injuries to his face and neck.

Merseyside Police are investigating, with CCTV and witness searches underway, and have released video footage of the suspects filmed shortly before the robbery.

Detective Inspector Richie Shillito said: “This was a nasty assault which was very distressing for the victim who was left in a state of shock.

“We are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with any information, including Rhosesmoor Road and the surrounding roads, who may have seen the two males.

“We have issued video footage of the two suspects shortly before the robbery and we urge anyone who thinks they may know who they are to please come forward. Any information, no matter small, will be most welcome.

“With this, I also appeal to motorists and residents to check your CCTV, dashcam or other devices as it may have captured something which will help with the investigation.”
