Police are searching for a masked man after a crossbow was fired at a house in Kirkby.

Emergency services were called to Madryn Avenue just before 09:00BST on Sunday morning (June 01).

It was reported the male offender, whose face was covered, was seen to ride away on a bicycle and extensive enquiries are ongoing to locate him.

Detectives believe it was a targeted attack and are looking at CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses.

They are yet to make an arrest.

Detecitve Inspector Darren Hankin said: “I know residents in Kirkby will be shocked and saddened to hear that a crossbow has been used in the heart of their community.

“To fire such a weapon in a residential street so recklessly could clearly have had far more serious consequences, and we are grateful that nobody is reported to have been hurt during this incident.

“We believe the suspect fled the area on a bike and our officers are conducting extensive enquiries to locate him, seize the weapon and bring him to justice.

“We are also keen to speak to anyone who was in the general area who saw or heard anything suspicious or believes they captured something significant on their dashcam, CCTV or doorbell camera.

“Weapons, whether they be knives, firearms or crossbows, have no place in Merseyside. They bring misery and fear to the heart of our communities, and we would ask that the public help by coming forward with any information they have so we can bring the male responsible to justice.”
