"Cowardly Crime" - Elderly Couple Robbed At Home
Police are hunting two men after an elderly couple were robbed in their own home in Liverpool in what's been described as a "cowardly crime". It happened on Mount Pleasant in the early hours of Sunday morning when two men threatened them with a screwdriver and demanded money. They left empty handed but the couple are said to be very shaken up.
The first man is described as very skinny, 5ft 7in to 5ft 8in tall, wearing black clothing with a black hooded top wrapped tightly around his face. The second man is described as being of stocky build, 6ft 1in to 6ft 2in tall, with a light blue scarf covering his face, a black hooded top and black pants.
A full search of the area was carried out and house-to-house inquiries are being conducted. CCTV is also being sought.
Detective Sergeant Richie Smith, said: “This was a cowardly crime, carried out against elderly victims in their own home, where they have every right to feel safe.
“Thankfully, incidents such as this are very rare and I want to reassure people that we are doing everything we can to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and to trace and arrest the people responsible.
"Our enquiries are still at an early stage and currently the two offenders are only described as wearing dark clothing.
"I would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around midnight on Sunday, or has any other information which could help us, to get in touch. No matter how trivial you think that information is, it could prove vital to the investigation."
An investigation into the full circumstances of the incident is underway.
