Countdown To The New Alder Hey

Published 6th Jul 2015

With two months to go until the opening of the new Alder Hey we are speaking to those who make the hospital what it is - the patients, the parents and the staff.

Every year 270, 000 children and their families are cared for by staff at the hospital.

In September doctors, nurses and patients will move to the new site next door and the current buildings will be knocked down and turned into a park.

People are being asked to have their say in the new Springfield Park's development.

A number of events will take place to engage with local schools and community groups, while there will be plenty of activities for the public to enjoy including a Market on Friday 10th July and a free Family Fun Day on Saturday 11th July. The events will take place in a big top tent in Springfield Park next to the new Alder Hey hospital.

Rachel Armstrong, Project Coordinator for Alder Hey, said: “We hope as many people as possible are able to join us in celebrating ‘Alder Hey in the Park Week’. This festival will focus on the future of Springfield Park, which will surround our new children’s hospital when it opens later this year.

“We are really looking forward to having an opportunity to engage with local people about our new hospital and the development of the Park. ‘Alder Hey in the Park Week’ gives us a fantastic opportunity to share our proposals for the park and hear the thoughts of local people about what they want from their park. This is their chance to have their say and help us create a Springfield Park that meets the needs of the entire local community.”

To celebrate the fantastic work that goes on at Alder Hey we've got some of the amazing stories from patients, families and doctors at the hospital...
