Homeless charities in Liverpool say an injection of government money to make vaccinations more accessible for rough sleepers is a welcome boost in the fight against covid.

The Council's getting a share of £28million to help deliver mobile vaccinations to those who're sleeping on the streets or in temporary accommodation, as well as educating them about the dangers of the virus.

So far around two thirds of rough sleepers have had the jab or are willing to get one.

Ellie McNeil from YMCA Together in Liverpool said:

"Twenty eight million pounds helped to give it a push but we see this as an ongoing process where we can have regular clinics set up.

"Two thirds of the people have either had the vaccine or are willing to have it but there's probably around a third unwilling to have it for various reasoons which is probably where we are as a city on the whole, around seventy percent of the population have had their first or second vaccine so we're not too far off that".
