Charge after reports of an armed man in Liverpool city centre

A man has been charged after Merseyside Police were called to reports of someone armed with a meat cleaver in Liverpool city centre.

Officers were called to reports of a male acting in an aggressive manner around the area of Renshaw Street/Leece Street in the Georgian Quarter at around 6pm on Monday 27 May.

James Jackson, 48, of Princes Road, Liverpool, has been charged with possessing a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.

He was remanded into custody to appear at South Sefton magistrates court yesterday, Tuesday 28 May.
