Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to, after two teenagers were attacked on a trail on Wirral.

The pair were assaulted on the 7.57pm Merseyrail service from Liverpool Central to Eastham Rake on Friday 24th June.

Investigating officer PC Jonathan Raymond said: “The victims, a 15-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, were travelling from Brombrough Rake towards Eastham Rake.

“A fellow passenger who had been sitting opposite them got up from his seat, approached them and grabbed the boy by the throat and smacked his head against the widow before grabbing the girl by the throat.

“The young victims were terrified by this man’s actions and it is vital we speak to him. No-one should have to be subject to this kind of violence on the rail network, it is simply not acceptable.”

After reviewing CCTV, officers are today issuing images of a man they want to speak to about the incident.

“The man in the images is someone who I believe has information about this incident. Who is he?” added PC Raymond.
