CCTV Images Released After Woman Was Raped In Toxteth

Police have released cctv images of a man they'd like to speak to after a woman was raped in Liverpool. It happened on Beaumont Street in Toxteth in the morning of Sunday 19th July. Around 6.30am the 24 year old was walking to her partner's house.

A man she didnt know approached her, pushed her to the ground and attacked her.

Detectives say the woman is traumatised.

They have released moving CCTV footage of a man they'd like to speak to in connection.

Detective Sergeant Paul Donaghy from the force's specialist Unity team said: "We have now spoken to the victim and can confirm that this is being investigated as a rape. This has had a traumatic effect on the young woman and she is still struggling to come to terms with what has happened to her and will have to live with this for the rest of her life. DS Donaghy continued: "We believe that the man in the CCTV footage, who was wearing a distinctive sweatshirt with the Marvel logo on the front, may have information which could help us with our investigation and we would urge him, or anyone who recognises him to come forward and contact the Unity team on 0151 777 1382, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
