Detectives have released CCTV images of three men they would like to speak to after a teenager was assaulted in Liverpool city centre.

The 19 year-old was with his sister and seven-year-old niece on Hanover Street at about 9.30pm on Thursday 10 December, when an unknown male approached his sister and verbally abused her.

The teenager confronted the male and was then set upon by the man and two other men and kicked and punched to the head and body.

He suffered a suspected broken nose and bruising to his face and body. His sister was also punched in the face and suffered bruising.

Officers have now released CCTV images of three males who they believe could help them with their enquiries.

Detective Inspector Colin Rennison said: “This was a particularly nasty and unprovoked assault on a family who had been out in Liverpool city centre Christmas shopping.

“There would probably have been a number of people around the Hanover Street area at the time of the assault who may have seen what happened or saw the males leaving the area.

“We would also ask the three males in the CCTV footage or anyone who knows of their identity to get in touch.”

Anyone who has any information is asked to call Merseyside Police on 0151 777 4094 or the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
