Police have issued CCTV images of two men they want to speak to about an assault in Liverpool city centre.

At around 2.30am on Saturday 21 August a man was attacked by another man in a takeaway on Leece Street.

The victim was punched and fell to the floor where he was then kicked in the head which knocked him unconscious.

He was treated in hospital for a fractured jaw where he stayed for several days after the incident.

CCTV and witness enquiries have been carried out near the restaurant and detectives have issued CCTV images of two men they believe could assist with their investigation.

Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said:

“This was a violent attack which left a man with a serious injury and his recovery could take several months.

“We have carried out a number of CCTV and witness enquiries and are keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the men pictured.

“If you were on Leece Street at the time of the assault and may have witnessed this incident or have any information about it, we would also like to hear from you.”
