An investigation is underway a gang on a motorcycles carried out a cash in transit robbery in Walton this morning

At around 11.20am a security guard was making a cash collection at Lloyds TSB bank on County Road when four men on motorcycles approached the van and gained entry taking a quantity of cash.

The offenders took the cash and made off from the scene on two motorcycles, one motorcycle is described as orange in colour with a number on the side, the other dark green in colour. They made off towards the roundabout on Queens Drive.

The offenders are described as wearing dark-coloured clothes and gloves, with their faces covered.

The guard was not injured but left shaken by the incident.

Detective Inspector Terry Davies said: "Robberies of security guards are not victimless crimes and it is unacceptable for this guard to be subjected to this ordeal while he was just carrying out his job.

"We are carrying out a number of enquiries in the area including the examination of CCTV and forensic enquiries.

"We'd be keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident itself or who saw the offenders acting suspiciously in the County Road area to get in contact on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Any information no matter how small will be treated with the utmost confidence and could assist with our investigation."
