The charity arm of Everton are asking fans to raise £40,000 for them in the build up to kick-off against Crystal Palace tonight (19 February).

Everton in the Community staff and volunteers will be out with buckets and asking supporters to spare £1 each.

The money raised will go towards the charity's work to help those most in need across the Liverpool City Region.

A £40,000 target has been set to represent the capacity at Goodison Park.

This coincides with the charity's 36th birthday. EitC were established in 1988 to help create brighter futures and stronger communities.

The charity says a £1 donation will generate more than £29 in social value for EitC - which could provide travel passes for a group of young people to get to college or cover a course of one-to-one English lessons for a refugee who has been placed in Liverpool.

11 junior mascots and one Toffee Lady will also be escorting Sean Dyche's starting 11 out at tonight's game and the players will be warming up in Everton in the Community t-shirts.

The club is also gifting match-worn shirts to help raise extra money.

Supporters who can't make it to the game can also donate online.
