A teenager is in a serious condition in hospital after a suspected stabbing at a college in Widnes

At 1.45pm on Wednesday 7th December police received reports of a disturbance at Riverside College in Kingsway.

Officers swiftly attended the scene to find a 17-year-old boy with serious injuries. He has been taken to Aintree Hospital for treatment.

Two teenagers both aged have been arrested in connection with the incident and officers remain at the scene.

Chief Inspector Richard Rees said: “The investigation is in the very early stages but I would like to reassure people that this appears to be an isolated incident. Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing. If anyone has any concerns they are urged to speak to a local officer.”
