Boy mauled by dog in Waterloo
A 9-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being bitten on the arm by a dog.
A woman has been arrested after her dog bit a boy on the arm in Waterloo.
The nine-year-old was walking through a bus stop eating an ice-cream when the dog lunged at him.
The boy’s mum hit the dog repeatedly until it let go and she then took her son into a nearby pub to seek help.
A member of the public called the police and when officers arrived at the bus stop in Brighton Road they found the dog tied to a seat with its owner.
The 37-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control in a public or private place.
The dog responsible for the bite was seized by dog patrol officers and taken to secure kennels. It is believed to be a mastiff or American bulldog and is therefore not a banned breed.
The boy was taken by ambulance to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital for treatment to several deep lacerations to his forearm.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call Merseyside Police on 101.
