Boy arrested after man knocked unconscious in robbery in Liverpool
Police also want to speak to the man in this CCTV footage about it
A 16 year old boy's been arrested after a man was knocked unconscious in a robbery in Liverpool city centre.
Police received a report of a robbery at around 4.30am on Tuesday 4 July outside the Philharmonic Hall. It was reported that a man was approached by two males who asked him about his watch.
The man then walked away from them towards Myrtle and Catherine Street behind a bus stop near the Philharmonic Hall and was reportedly knocked unconscious by offenders who also stole his watch.
The man suffered a concussion after sustaining serious injuries to his skull and cuts to his head. He was taken to hospital and is now recovering at home from the attack.
Since the robbery officers have arrested a 16-year-old boy from Liverpool on suspicion of assault and robbery. He has been taken to a police station in Merseyside where he remains in custody.
Officers have also carried out extensive CCTV and witness enquiries and detectives have issued images of a male they believe could assist with their investigation.
Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said:
“This was a terrifying attack on a man who has suffered significant head injuries when he was just returning home from a night out.
“No one should be targeted in such a violent manner in our city centre and we are working hard to find anyone responsible and bring them to justice.
“If you recognise the male pictured then please let us know, as we believe he may hold information vital to our ongoing investigation.
“We would also appeal to anyone who was out that night on Tuesday 4 July in the area and saw anyone or anything suspicious to contact us as they may have information which is vital to our investigation.
