Bomb squad detonate 'grenade' reportedly found in car boot
Homes were evacuated in Strand Road on Monday (04 November)
A bomb squad has detonated an explosive device, believed to be a grenade, found in a car in Bootle.
Emergency services rushed to Strand Road on Monday (04 November), where homes were evacuated, and a huge cordon was put in place.
The device was recovered from the car and taken to a safe location before being detonated in a controlled explosion.
People have since been able to return to their homes and Merseyside Police confirmed the cordon was lifted in the early hours of Tuesday morning (05 November).
The car has also been seized.
