Body found off the coast of Hoylake

A post mortem's taking place on a body pulled from the River Dee last night.

Merseyside Police are investigating the discovery of a man's body in the River Dee on Wednesday night.

Officers were called by the Coastguard just before 10.30pm following reports that a body had been seen about six miles off the Wirral coastline.

The body was recovered from the water to Hoylake and brought to Liverpool, where a Home Office post mortem will take place today.

The body hasn't been formally identified yet, but is thought to be that of a male.

An investigation is underway to establish the identity of the person and circumstances surrounding his death, The force says at the moment, it's being treated as unexplained.
