The best radio journalists start here

Published 16th Sep 2015

The next Bauer Journalism Programme starts on the 9th November and is based for the first time at the iconic studios of Rock FM in Preston. In 15 intensive and practical weeks you will learn all the skills you need to start your career as a radio journalist.

From day one you’ll be mentored by John Pickford, Editor in Chief Bauer Radio News, and other senior Bauer journalists. You will also contribute to the output of some of the UK’s most successful radio stations.

As well as being based at Rock FM you will also spend time at Key 103 in Manchester and Radio City in Liverpool. You will also visit Radio Clyde in Glasgow and BBC Radio 5 Live.

There are daily lectures on a variety of subjects, with a focus on law. However, the main emphasis is on the broadcast skills required to make you fit for purpose as a professional radio journalist.

The course is designed to get you a job. In fact, on the last course 60% of students got paid work as radio journalists within a month of the course ending! Not only that, you’ll also receive a Bauer Diploma in Radio Journalism accredited by the BJTC, your professional ticket to a future career.

Bursaries and Scholarships are available to the right students, however, as you can imagine, places are limited on this November’s course.
