Four men have been arrested in a pre-planned police operation following recent gun crime incidents in the city.

Armed officers stopped a White Peugeot van on Park Lane near the junction with Bridle Road, Netherton, at around 9.46pm yesterday (4 June, 2017)

Four males were apprehended at the scene and taken into custody for questioning on suspicion of possession of firearms.

They were a 28-year-old of no fixed address, a 24-year old from Orrell Park, and a 21-year-old and 26-year-old from Bootle.

Officers also executed a second warrant in Fazakerley in the early hours of Monday morning and arrested a 27-year-old woman on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs, theft of a motor vehicle, handling stolen goods and burglary.

A quantity of cash, suspected stolen motorcycles, and suspected drugs were seized from the property.
