Investigations continue after a man has been arrested after admitting himself into hospital with a serious knife injury.

It happened yesterday afternoon on Norris Green, with police reporting two others also running from the scene at the time.

Officers closed a section of Circular Road East and Morningside Road for forensic tests.

In a statement, police said: "We have made an arrest following reports a man was slashed with a knife in Norris Green this afternoon (Saturday 22 June).

"A 30-year-old man self-presented at hospital just before 3.35pm today with a slash wound to his wrist. His condition is described as serious but stable.

"It was further reported the incident had happened on Circular Road East and that two males had been seen running from the scene.

"The injured man, a 30-year-old man from Norris Green, has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and affray.

"A section of Circular Road East and Morningside Road is closed for forensic examinations and officers remain in the area conducting witness and CCTV enquiries."

From the force, Detective Inspector Carla Cross said: “Knife crime can have absolutely devastating consequences for victims, their families and friends, and those who carry them.

“Statistics show you are much more likely to be a victim of knife crime if you carry a knife yourself.

“Those offenders who carry them have no place whatsoever in our communities.

“Every day we are carrying out stop checks, warrants and land searches to take knives off our streets, but the assistance of members of the public coming forward with information about where they are stored and who is carrying them is vital to ensure the safety of families and residents."

“If you saw any part of the incident on Circular Road East after 3pm today or might have captured dashcam or CCTV footage of those involved, please contact us.

“If you have any information including who is carrying, using, or storing knives or weapons, please come forward so we can continue to disrupt offenders and bring them to justice.”
