Armed robbers target teen in Wirral churchyard
A teenage boy's been left shaken after he was robbed by other youths armed with a knife and a hammer in Bebington.
Detectives in Wirral are investigating after a teenage boy had his bike stolen by youths armed with a knife and a hammer.
At about 1.30pm on Friday, officers received a report of a robbery that had taken place on Church Road in Bebington, in the grounds of St Andrews Church. It was reported that a 16-year-old boy had his black mountain bike was stolen after being threatened by three teenagers. One was reported to be holding a pen knife and one was holding a hammer. The boy was not hurt but has been left distressed by his ordeal. One of the offenders was described as being white, aged around 15. All three of the males were wearing black and had their faces covered. Detectives have spoken with the victim and enquiries are on-going in the area. CCTV is being examined and house to house enquiries carried out. Neighbourhood Inspector Katie Wilkinson said: "This must have been a very frightening experience for the victim. Thankfully incidents such as this are rare and we are working hard to trace the offenders responsible. "Patrols have been stepped up in this area to reassure residents and visitors to the park. I would urge anyone who has any information about this incident, especially anyone who was in the area at the time, who may have seen males fitting this description, to come forward."
