Merseyside Police is appealing for information after a man was assaulted by a group of three men in Liverpool City Centre in the early hours of New Year's Day. At around 1am on 1 January, the victim was walking along Seel Street with friends, when he was attacked by a group of three men described as black and in their early 20s. The victim was kicked and punched, then stamped on as he lay on the floor. Officers attended and the victim was taken to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital where he was treated for cuts, bruising and a disfigured finger. Images are now being issued of a man who detectives believe can assist with the investigation. Liverpool CID Detective Chief Inspector Phil Mahon said: “Although some time has passed since the offence, it would have been a shocking incident to witness and the area was very busy with New Year revellers who may have some vital information. “We are keen to speak to the man pictured to help us in our enquiries and if you know who he is, I would urge you to contact police immediately.” Anyone with information is asked to call Liverpool CID on 0151 777 4094, call 101, or the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
