Merseyside Police is appealing for information to identify a man who may be able to assist the investigation into a Liverpool City Centre assault. At around 11.30pm on Thursday, 30 March, an argument broke out between two groups of men inside Smokey Mo's bar on Ranelagh Street, Liverpool. Following this argument, the victim was struck with a glass, resulting in lacerations to the left side of his face, which required stitches at hospital. The group of men were ejected by door staff and are believed to have run off in the direction of Lime Street Station. The man police wish to speak to is described as white, around 30 years old, of stocky build with short dark hair and a dark goatee style beard. He was wearing a dark coloured coat. Liverpool CID Detective Chief Inspector Phil Mahon said: "We are keen to speak with the man pictured to assist us in our enquiries. "The victim was enjoying a quiet night out with his family, and was trying to act as a peacemaker as this argument escalated. To be met with such a violent response has left him in pain, scarred and extremely shocked, and we are determined to find the man responsible and bring them to justice." Anyone with information about this incident, or who can identify the man pictured, should call Liverpool CID on 0151 777 4065, call 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
