Another teenager was shot when Ellis Cox killed, police say
A further two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder
Merseyside Police have revealed a second teenager was shot on the night 19-year-old Ellis Cox was killed in Aintree.
The teenager was killed on the Liver Industrail Estate on the 23rd of June after a bike ride with friends.
In their latest update on the investigation police say:
"We can confirm that two people have been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of Ellis Cox in Aintree.
"Ellis, aged 19, was fatally shot on Sunday 23 June at the Liver Industrial Estate and we continue to appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
"It has now been established that a second male, also aged 19, was shot in the foot during the same incident after he self-presented at hospital. He has since been discharged and this will form part of our ongoing inquiries.
"We can today, Tuesday 23 July, confirm that a 34-year-old man from Liverpool has been arrested on suspicion of murder and possession of a firearm without a certificate.
"A 61-year-old man from Huyton has been arrested on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, possession of a controlled Class B drug (cannabis) and possession of a firearm without a certificate.
"Both men have been conditionally bailed pending further inquiries."
Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath, the Senior Investigating Officer, said: “Although we have made these arrests, I want to urge anyone with information about Ellis’s murder to come forward.
“Our investigation is making progress and I want to thank the community for the information they have provided to us so far.
“We’re continuing to appeal for any information from anyone who is yet to come forward, the smallest detail of which could be vital to our inquiries.”
