All the glitz and glam from home as Merseyside prepares for Ladies Day
It's the day when fashion takes centre stage for Day two of the Aintree Grand National
It's Merseyside's most glamorous day of the year when fashion takes centre stage on the second day of the Grand National Festival.
But with racing at Aintree behind closed doors - thousands are expected to strut their stuff on Ladies Day from home.
As part of the Grand Day in competition - Prizes are up for grabs for the best dressed - including a huge donation to the charity of the winner's choice.
Jay Hynd is one of the Judges :
"Loads of ladies in the city have still been online shopping, they've still been buying outfits for things and it's now time to get them out, dust them off and get dolled up.
"It's not just the outfit, I want to see someone who is smiling and who has put a bit of fun into it. It's what you can do from home to make yourself stand out."
It's another blow for beauticians across Liverpool who would usually be fully booked in the build up to Ladies Day.
Helen Frost runs a salon in Aigburth - she says it's devastating they've not been able to reopen in time :
"Ladies Day is a massive event for everyone. It's usually such a busy time for hair and beauty salons and not to be able to open for the past three months and then this huge event on top of it, it's heartbreaking for everyone."
