Acting Liverpool Mayor predicts an uphill battle to win back public trust
Liverpool's acting Mayor is predicting an uphill battle to rebuild public trust after a damning report sent shockwaves around the city
It comes as the Communities Secretary announced commisioners will take control of the council's planning and regeneration departments for at least three years
Inspectors found evidence of mismangement and spending of public funds they say undermines the people of Liverpool
Wendy Simon says she was as shocked anyone at the findings :
"I know we'll have a long road ahead to win back that trust and I think how we respond to this report and the improvement plan will define our credibility in the city.
"I recognise this is a huge shock to Labour in the city but I'm sure working together we can rebuild that trust."
