A 24-Hour indoor charity rowing event is taking place today at Merseyside Police Headquarters in aid of the PC Neil Doyle memorial fund.

The event will be on from 9am on Thursday until 9am on Friday 18 of December. This will mark the first anniversary of the creation of the fund.

Tim Davies, a member of the police staff, is the one taking part in the challenge. Although he didn't know Neil Doyle personally he wanted to do something to help the memorial fund and thought the anniversary was the ideal timing for it.

PC Neil Doyle died after being attacked on a Christmas night out in Liverpool city centre.

Tim has never been one to shy away from a challenge. He only recently returned from training in Austria, where he qualified as a Snowboard instructor.

He told Radio City that the fund wasn't doing as well as he hoped: 'The charity was only at 74 percent but I want to get that to 100 percent and hopefully from this event it will do.'

Tim doesn't have a target in mind but hopes that people will give generously.
