17 year old charged following fatal hit and run in Netherton

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with death by dangerous driving following a fatal road collision in Netherton on Thursday 13th April.

At around 9pm it was reported that a black Audi S8 car had collided with a man and then crashed into a house on Morgan Mews. The driver of the car then made off on foot.

Paramedics attended and 63-year-old David Francis from Litherland was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with death by dangerous driving, causing death while uninsured, aggravated, taking any a motor vehicle without owner consent and two counts of burglary of a dwelling. He has been remanded into custody.

He has appeared at Merseyside Youth remand Court today, Friday 21 April.

Detective Inspector Jay Halpin said: “While we have charged one person with burglary, we know others were involved in those burglaries and we will continue to pursue them and bring them to justice.”
