13-year-old charged over Wirral stabbing
The teenager is due in court today (Tuesday 21 October)
A 13 year old boy's been charged after a teenager was stabbed on the Wirral.
Police were called to Ridgewood Park in Pensby at around 5.05pm on Sunday (19 October) to reports that a 15-year-old boy had been stabbed.
He was taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital for treatment to a wound to his back, where he remains in a stable condition.
Four teenagers were arrested in connection with the incident and a 13-year-old boy from Moreton, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has now been charged with two counts of Section 13 wounding and possession of a bladed article. He has been remanded into custody to appear at Liverpool Youth Court today.
Two boys aged 15 and 13, and a 13-year-old girl who were also arrested in connection with the incident have been released on police bail with conditions.
Detective Inspector Phil Ryan said: “Although we have charged a 13-year-old male in connection with this incident, our work continues and I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed any part of this incident to please get in touch as a matter of urgency.
“I would ask residents on the following roads to check their CCTV and dashcam footage for anything which will assist the investigation, particularly the surrounding roads of Fishers Lane, Old Wood Road, Nicholls Drive and Rusland Avenue between 5pm and 5.15pm on Sunday.”
He added: “There is no place for knives in our communities, and we continue to seek out those involved in knife crime – whether selling knives, carrying them or using them.
“The use of knives and any weapons is reckless and will not be tolerated, and can have tragic consequences, not only for the victim and their family but also for the offenders involved.
“We continue working with partners and schools to educate young people on the devastating consequences carrying a knife and knife crime has. My message to them is to please think twice and not carry them in the first place.”
