100 arrests since Merseyside riots 'with many more to come'
Disorder broke out in Liverpool and Southport after three girls were killed
One of the officers leading the investigation into the recent riots across Merseyside is warning that there are still 'many more arrests to come'.
Disorder broke out in Liverpool and Southport after the tragedy in which three little girls lost their lives at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in July.
Since then, 100 people involved in these riots have been arrested. Of those, 62 have been charged and 45 sentenced.
DCI Tony Roberts said:
"We've made 100 arrests so far, but there will be many more to come.
"I would urge the public to continue providing us with the huge amounts of support that they have already to assist us in identifying those people. I would ask that the public continue to go onto the police website and use our social media channels to help us identify more people involved in those disorder incidents.
"I would urge those people who were involved in the disorder in Southport on 30 July or in Liverpool city centre or the Walton area on 3 August to come forward to speak to us - because you will spend a long time looking over your shoulder waiting for that knock on the door.
"Those incidents in Southport in July and then in Liverpool in August were absolutely disgraceful incidents and caused so much trauma and stress for the residents of those areas.
"The sentences passed so far and the number of arrests achieved so far by the investigation team will serve as a message of reassurance really to the community and I would urge the public to continue to contact us and continue to provide us with that support."
