10% Council Tax rise proposed in Liverpool

Council tax in Liverpool could rise by 10% in 2018 - Joe Anderson's put forward proposals for a referendum on the issue.

Council tax payers in Liverpool could be hit with a massive 10 percent rise in 2018.

Mayor Joe Anderson says they've got to plug the hole in the budget somehow - and he wants to hold a referendum, asking people if they'd be prepared to pay that much.

It would help the Council maintain services - but Anderson admits even if people said yes, they'd still be left with a massive shortfall to make up.
