1 in 10 Kids On Merseyside 'Know How To Steal Bank Account Details'
New figures claim 1 in 10 kids on Merseyside knows how to steal bank account details online.
A new poll conducting by Kaspersky Lab has revealed 1 in 10 16 - 19 year olds in the North West know someone who's engaged in a cyber activity that could be deemed illegal.
There are fears that kids are learning how to conduct it themselves.
It comes as the National Crime Agency revealed that the avaerage age of a cyber criminal is now just 17 years old.
The poll also found that over a third would be impressed if a friend hacked a bank's website and replaced the homepage with a cartoon, and almost one in five would be impressed if a friend hacked the air traffic control systems of a local airport.
Dr Dimitrios Tsivrikos, Consumer and Business Psychologist at University College London said:
"Rebellion, curiosity and an urge to demonstrate their independence are natural characteristics of the 16 to 19 age group. As the first truly digital native generation, rebelling has simply become another aspect of their lives that can go digital"
"Cyber crimes have become more glamourised in society and represent an attack on the 'system' and allow individuals to express their teenager angst, in which they struggle to identify their place within society"
