'Can I Be Me?' is an insight into the life of Whitney Houston.

The long-anticipated Whitney Houston documentary, 'Can I Be Me?' has been fully produced and will come to the UK in June. The film will document the extraordinary life of the American singer, and the struggle she faced trying to balance such a demanding lifestyle.

The documentary will begin by remembering 1970s Whitney, who started as a gospel singer and moved into pop music after hearing the music of Chaka Khan and Gladys Knight.

The singer also started working as a fashion model, and after appearing on the cover of Seventeen, Glamour and Cosmpolitan, she became one of the most sought-after teenage models of the time.

The documentary will then move onto Whitney's success as a 1980s pop star, and finally her 1999 World Tour, credited as being her 'last successful' tour.

'Can I Be Me?' will give an insight into the struggle the young singer faced in juggling the responsibilities life poured on her; including her responsibility to look after her voice, a talent she regarded as god-given, her honesty as an artist, her ability to be a good mother, wife and daughter, and her ongoing difficulties with substance abuse.

Whitney's complicated life was full of varying roles and responsibilities, but the documentary will celebrate her colourful life, and the legacy she has left behind.

The film premiered this week in the US, and it will share some incredibly intimate, and often moving, moments, from both the singer herself and those who have survived her.
