St Helens man arrested on suspicion of murder

It's after a woman in her 40s was found dead at a property in Haydock

A St Helens man has been arrested last on suspicion of murdering a woman in Haydock.

Merseyside Police were called to a property on Piele Road at 9.05am yesterday (Wednesday 31 August) following a report of concern for the safety of a woman.

Paramedics attended and found the woman, in her 40s, inside the property, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say a post-mortem will be carried out to establish the cause of death.

A 43 year-old man has since been detained in the Liverpool area and is now being questioned by detectives.

A man in his 30s who was found close to the scene with injuries remains in hospital, where he continues to be interviewed by officers.

Merseyside Police say they're not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident in Piele Road but are continuing to appeal for anyone with information to contact them.
