WATCH: Louis Tomlinson's single storms the charts after emotional performance on The X Factor
Louis' mum passed away last week.
Just days after the death of his mum Louis Tomlinson took to The X Factor stage to perform his debut solo single.
Louis was joined on stage with DJ Steve Aoki to perform 'Just Hold On' which was reportedly written about Johannah, Louis' mum. Johannah had been battling leukaemia for the past year and sadly passed away last Wednesday in Sheffield's Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
While many singers would have cancelled so soon after a family tragedy, according to ITV News it was Johannah's dying wish that Louis perform his debut solo single on the programme that made him famous.
The former One Direction member made the courageous appearance on The X Factor with the support of family and thousands of fans at Wembley Arena.

Within minutes of The X Factor episode ending Louis' single was quickly climbing its way up the UK chart and it is currently at number one in the Vodafone Big Top 40.
At the end of his performance he was given a standing ovation as Simon said, "Louis, what you've just done and the bravery that took - I just respect you so much as an artist and as a person.
"Your mum was so looking forward to tonight and I know she is watching down on you now. She was so proud of you."
Later Louis took to Twitter to say, 'That was harder than I ever imagined.'
Louis' most recent photo on Instagram is of him with his mum just before the BRITs earlier this year, with the caption, 'My mother looking gorgeous before the Brits earlier this year . I love you and miss you so much !' sic
