Sir Tom Jones is currently performing at venues across Europe on his 'Tom Jones Live' tour, but he has been forced to cancel a second show after falling ill just hours before he was due to take to the stage at Stansted Park.
Yesterday (18th July), Sir Tom's team took to Twitter to reveal the sad news that he would have to cancel his show. The statement read, 'It is with regret that we have to cancel Tom Jones' performance at Stansted Park this evening.
'Unfortunately, Sir Tom is unwell and has been advised by doctors not to perform. All ticket holds will receive a full refund by contacting their point of purchase. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and we wish Tom well.'
Then, earlier today (19th July), another statement was tweeted confirming that another of his shows would be rescheduled from today, until Sunday 12th August. The statement went on to explain how Sir Tom has been treated in hospital with a 'bacterial infection' and the condition is 'being well managed'.
Following the two statements from his team, the singer himself then posted a message to his fans, to apologise for having to cancel his gigs. He explained how, 'It's the worse feeling having to let down everyone', he went on to say how he understood that many fans will have travelled 'considerable distances'.
He ended his statement thanking his fans, saying, 'A sincere thank you for your support and understanding.'
Despite many fans obviously being disappointed, they have been leaving messages to wish the singer a speedy recovery, saying they're looking forward to seeing him at the rescheduled date.
Sir Tom is due to perform in Germany on the 21st July, returning to the UK to perform in Peterborough on the 22nd July, before moving on to other locations across the UK and Europe.
Sir Tom's latest ill health isn't the first time it has affected a tour, last year his US tour was cancelled after the singer received a hip replacement.
